Description

The project involved the design and testing of the interface for "SpeedyOrder", a secure automated food ordering system. The components involved of a kiosk located at a local Food Court that would allow customers to search for menus based on price or cuisine, browse specials and order food. An administrator interface to maintain the central database was the final piece. The system was meant to expedite the overall ordering process by shortening queues and reducing "window-shopping".

Outcome

Potential users were observed and interviewed to generate requirements and gather user data to create personas. Paper prototypes were used refine the design concepts with the clients. An interactive and fully operational prototypes of the system, including that of the kiosk, were created and tested with representative users from the three user classes. In addition, experts were called upon to for heuristic evaluations. The data gathered was used to refine the design.
