Central Administration Framework

Conceptualized and designed a new, central framework that consolidated the administration tools for the products. The administrator tools for the suite of products were built over a period of time and were highly inconsistent in look and feel and interaction. Several tasks were either text based (writing scripts) or required editing the database. This framework provided an interface for such tasks and consolidated related functions onto a single page or group. Inline help and tips were also included.

Mobile version of Public Portal

Designed the mobile version of the public portal product targeted at feature phones (without support for JavaScript or advanced CSS features). The goal was to provide access to status updates and inspection schedules to contractors and construction workers. The screen size and interaction modes were highly variable, so a basic set of features were chosen and adapted for this version. In later releases, different versions targeted at specific devices were created.

Internationalization and Localization

Researched and analyzed the business practices and working methods of a Middle-Eastern government agency to better understand local considerations for product design. Used the data collected along with industry standards to shape and support the Internationalization and Localization effort of the products. Created mockups and prototypes for the Right to Left versions of the interfaces for the various products. Helped design tools for users to translate existing screens into any of five supported languages.

Specifications, Guidelines and Libraries

Laid the groundwork for a Pattern Library and created standards and guidelines for the User Interfaces. Helped document the various interfaces across the products and categorize the various UI elements. Also introduced an icon library that collected the various icons in use across the products reducing confusion arising from usage of different icons for the same function. Created guidelines and specifications for consumption by multidisciplinary teams on a global scale.
